Job Elements
The successful candidate will work closely with the project lead and in-house design and simulation engineers as well as external specialists to provide expertise in simulation of green energy systems, particularly the power take-off [PTO] system and the hydraulic subsystems.
Simulation will be predominantly in the Simulink/ WEC Sim environment but will also include support in simplifying and implementing PTO models into Orcaflex.
The simulation Engineer will then interpret these results to provide information for the design and operations teams.
In addition to the simulation abilities, a good understanding of optimisation methods, use of cluster/ parallel computing and an ability to understand and interpret mechanical systems into simulation analogues are highly desirable for this role.
The simulation engineer may be required on occasion to assist with prototype testing activities.
The simulation engineer will also be responsible for occasional dissemination of the technical work at conferences, seminars and potentially journal papers.
The ideal candidate will have:
A strong mathematical understanding and ability
Degree/HNC/HND in Engineering or related discipline.
Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in computational simulation.
A strong knowledge of and capability using Simulink [and desirably WEC-Sim].
Excellent problem-solving skills and able to work with limited supervision.
Good planning and organisational skills and ability to work under challenging timescales.
A genuine interest and passion for addressing the challenges of energy generation at sea.
Proficient in English, both spoken and written.
Eligibility to live and work in the UK.
Valid Driving Licence for driving in UK.
