This is a hands-on laboratory role where you’ll carry out routine chemical and analytical testing, prepare samples, operate laboratory equipment and accurately record test results. You’ll work closely with the Technical Manager and wider testing team to help ensure laboratory work is completed safely, accurately and within required turnaround times. Training will be provided on relevant equipment, test methods and laboratory procedures.
What you’ll be doing
• Preparing and testing laboratory samples.
• Setting up and operating chemical and analytical testing equipment.
• Carrying out routine equipment checks, verification and calibration activities where trained and authorised.
• Recording test conditions and results accurately.
• Reviewing test data and highlighting unusual results or equipment behaviour.
• Carrying out routine cleaning and basic maintenance of laboratory equipment.
• Managing stocks of reagents, consumables and laboratory supplies.
• Following chemical handling, PPE, waste-disposal, health & safety and quality procedures.
• Supporting laboratory audits, 5S and continuous improvement activities.
• Working with colleagues to meet testing schedules and customer delivery requirements.The ideal candidate will have:
• You’ll ideally have experience working in a laboratory, testing or technical environment, together with a practical approach and strong attention to detail.
• You should be comfortable following written test methods, procedures and safety instructions, working with laboratory or analytical equipment, accurately recording data and communicating any issues clearly to the wider team.
• A basic understanding of laboratory health and safety, including chemical handling and PPE, is also essential.
• Experience in chemical analysis or materials testing, working within an ISO/IEC 17025 or other quality-controlled laboratory, or carrying out equipment calibration, verification or routine maintenance would be an advantage.
