Job Elements
Undertake analysis, interpret results, report findings and prepare draft certificates ensuring their compliance with appropriate legislation governing analysis and certificates.
Provide appropriate scientific and technical advice and develop contacts with all clients.
Undertake such investigative analysis as is directed to provide adequate evidential support for clients’ purposes.
Undertake analytical and investigative work as required for the development of analytical methods and provide an assessment of their suitability for use in Analytical Services.
To participation in collaborative trials, surveys, performance assessment, routine work and to keep abreast of and advise on relevant analytical, equipment and systems developments.
To oversee the academic and professional training of all scientific staff and undertake delivery of training to staff and clients as necessary.
Undertake delegated administrative duties as assigned for the day-to-day functioning of the laboratory
The ideal candidate will have:
Science Degree appropriate to the work of the department
Minimum of 5 years post-graduation extensive experience in GC-MS Instrumentation analysis
Method development and validation
Good ability with databases/ spreadsheets/LIMS
Ability to think on feet and communicate clearly, both orally and in reports
Present results to clients if required
Experience in an environmental/petrochemical/ food or similar lab
Familiar with other techniques ie LC-MS, GC, HPLC, IC, SEM, DSC, FTIR etc
